The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer-based test conducted annually for admission into graduate management programs. Established by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), CAT scores are widely accepted by numerous business schools across India.

Exam Pattern

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC) Focuses on English language skills, including comprehension passages and verbal reasoning. 24
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR) Assesses the ability to interpret data and solve logical problems. 20
Quantitative Ability (QA) Tests mathematical skills and numerical problem-solving. 22

Each section is allotted 40 minutes, making the total exam duration 120 minutes. Candidates must navigate through these sections in a fixed order without the option to switch between them during the test.

Marking Scheme:

  • Correct Answer: +3 points.
  • Incorrect Answer: -1 point (Note: There’s no negative marking for Type In The Answer (TITA) questions).
  • Unattempted Questions: No points awarded or deducted.

Eligibility Criteria

Criteria Details
Education Qualification Candidates should hold a bachelor's degree with at least 50% marks or an equivalent CGPA.
Relaxation for Reserved Categories SC, ST, and PWD candidates require a minimum of 45% marks.
Final Year Students Final-year undergraduate students can apply, provided they complete their degree within the stipulated schedule.
